Changing Your Diet With The Vegan Diet
Many have heard about some of the diets that have been introduced throughout the 1900s. Some of them have been very interesting to say the least. There is one that many are not too familiar with. It is the vegan diet. Just what is it?
The diet was actually developed in 1944 in another country by two very dedicated individuals. They had seen how people warmly welcomed the lifestyle of being a vegetarian, but you cannot confuse the two. Many have made this mistake before and have been corrected for it. There is a big difference between the two and those of both diets are very proud of their decision.
While the diet began in 1944, it was not introduced into the United States and really practiced by the people of this country until four years later. This was when a foundation was set up and helped to educate people who wished to pursue this lifestyle.
When you read of the traditions of a vegan and then the beliefs of a Buddhist you will find that they match up rather nicely. This is not by coincidence. In theory, because the Buddhists see animals sacred, they in fact sort of created this diet that is so well known today.
The vegan diet is quite a bit different than the vegetarian diet. Vegans do not eat the meat of any animal, nor do they consume dairy. They do, however, take it further than those who are vegetarians. While you might think there is not that much of a difference, speaking with those who follow both paths will bring forth information as to the similarities and differences.
There has been much debate as if this lifestyle is a good lifestyle to lead. While you do not get the fat of animals that many in the United States are used to having, this in fact could harm the body. Scientists have said that the fat of animals gives us the protein that the body needs. Many, however, abuse this and eat too much.
People of all ages and races have enjoyed the benefits of practicing a vegan lifestyle. Teenagers who are looking for their own identities and questioning accepted practices have really picked this up. So have animal rights activists who say this is a major way to demonstrate.
There has been quite an increase in people who have gone vegan. It is shown by the way that restaurants are making vegan friendly menus. College campuses where half the population eats on campus are doing the same thing.
The vegan raw food diet lifestyle is said to be hard for many who switch over to it, but those who do so have a commitment to a more gentle and animal-friendly way of life. Many choose to follow this vegan diet as a way to stand up for animals that are mistreated. This is the vegan vegetarian diet.
